Q: Why do we draw horror?
A: Our collection of drawings portrays icons of horror to keep you on the edge of your seat. We love being scared. The thoughts of ghosts, goblins and other supernatural beings might give us the willies, but we still read horror stories and watch horror films with delight.
Q: How do you find inspiration for a horror film?
A: Films are like veins of minerals. Tap them for ideas and inspiration, especially ones with rich visuals, such as Stalker, Aliens or anything by the Brothers Quay. Read authors known for imaginative worlds. China MiƩville, Michael Moorcock and HP Lovecraft come to mind. Look for artists who explore the uncanny and horrific.
Q: How do you bring horror to the ordinary?
A: Another method for bringing horror to the ordinary is to blend elements that don’t normally belong together. Pyramid Head from Silent Hill is a great example. The Borg from Star Trek are another.
Q: Why do we still read horror stories?
A: The thoughts of ghosts, goblins and other supernatural beings might give us the willies, but we still read horror stories and watch horror films with delight. There are many iconic monsters, from Dracula to Frankenstein, that have continued to inspire dread and morbid joy in us.
