Q: How to remove paint from Cerakote?
A: Duracoat needs a minimum of 3-5 weeks to develop color. Where cerakote can be cured within room temperature. You will need a paint gun for cerakote,but you can spray paint in Duracoat. You will get 257 colors in dura coat,on the other hand,Depakote has 102 colors. Yes,you can do creative work with cerakote,but Duracoat has some it’s limitations.
Q: Can you paint over Cerakote?
A: Unless you are one of those guys who collects safe queens, spray paint it. And when it chips off, spray paint it again. I tried to do a camo job over cerakote before. It chipped like crazy. I cant comment on rather it was poor prep or the two are not compatible. Key the surface/rub back with 600 followed by 800 grit wet and dry.
